The organization provides a platform for networking, collaboration, and sharing best practices. Since 1967, IAKS publishes , the world’s foremost magazine for exemplary architecture, innovations, products and
services from the fields of leisure centres, sports acilities,
swimming pools and wellness, stadiums and arenas.
- Professional development: IAKS is committed to promoting the professional development of its members and the broader industry. It offers educational opportunities, training programs, workshops, conferences, and seminars to
enhance the skills and expertise of professionals in the field. - Advocacy and standards: IAKS advocates for the highest
standards in the planning, design, construction, and management
of sports and leisure facilities. The organization works to develop and promote guidelines, codes of practice, and standards that ensure the safety, functionality, accessibility, and sustainability
of such facilities.
- Research and innovation: IAKS encourages research and
innovation in sports and leisure facility development. The organization supports and promotes studies, research projects,

The IAKS Study Trips to innovative sports and leisure facilities are valuable opportunities for learning and networking with colleagues from all over the world. Every two years the IAKS congress gathers international experts to discuss the latest trends on the planning, building and operation of sports and leisure facilities. It is held in conjunction with FSB – The International Trade Fair for public space, sports and leisure facilities – the world’s biggest showcase for the industry’s products and services.
